THE MONK KEY: Ganga and the Old Peepul Tree…

In the beginning the river Ganges is so swift and fast that nothing much remains same on her way over a period. It carves its way out of the mountains and forests and reaches the sea to submerge. That is the way we begin our life too. In our childhood, we are full of energy and as we reach the end, we become sluggish and powerless.

The all powerful flowing river, Holy Ganges reached the edge of its journey, ready to merge with the eternal sea, and as the silt rises from all sides to block its path, an indestructible Peepul tree reaches out to hold her hands with a promise of a renewed life...

THE SONG
_____
The roots above sway
Leaves and branches flowing down
Life whispers soft hymns

A rustling inner
Silence flows; eternity
Stillness falls; being.

Beginning less end
An Endless beginning,
Seeds Nature, self of tree

O! Ganga, flow and
You are. Karmic barriers
Not being is fall

Wait! The endless drops
Your flowing
Nature, uplift

Friend, friend of being
And when you arrive
Eternity of silence,

Withdraw like tortoise
Close all the senses
Hold your mind on untouched breath

Calm eternity
The waves upon waves
Illusion flickering dreams

Desire, Anger storm
Destruction begins
Difference lies in the end

Flowing red bloodstreams
A deep sigh; calm mind
Strip desires to its dry bones

And the rotting flesh
Burning your passions,
Fire and ashes merge into

An Eternal peace
O! Ganga, Ocean
Will merge in your being

Om! Om! Echoes of peace

THE STORY:

“The sluggish river, as it brings all the mud of its karma over the life lived, which inhibits its merging with the eternal sea. The silence is attained in the end, before another journey begins; the stillness of being at the precipice of another fall or rise, an endless beginning, where our nature itself is the seed for another tree or another river to burst forth.
But the Holy Ganges is in doubts, to which it says, that flowing is your being, so flow over the karmic barriers that hinders your emergence into a different space, because if you don’t, then you don’t exist.

So you see, son, it’s our duty to do what we are destined to do in life, and do it despite obstacles and doubts. It is our nature to be and do and it is our inner self that lifts us up after a fall as a friend does. Now when you cross the barriers, you must withdraw your ego, senses, and desires; to continue what you have been doing, surrender to the sea, withdrawing all that was there around you, within you as the tortoise does. Just be in the silence of being, and merge in the eternity that is around you. And the eternal sea will, wave upon wave, change your individual self into universal consciousness.

Death is not the destruction of your body or the flowing stream, but the merging of your dreams, desires, sorrow, and anger into an eternal calm—a deep sigh that echoes an eternal calm of eternity. O Ganga! That is OM.”

33rd Edition - Celebrating 400K Hits and New Year 2015 with spiritual quest

This is my 33rd Edition over a period of four years and 400K hits with multitudes of friends, followers and peers, on FB, Google+ and Twitter, ( @VerseEveryDay ); the last year has been great, though I could post only 23 articles on the blog. This I intend to correct in the year 2015 and hope to achieve one post every week at least. This is the first edition of the year with an interaction with a great and firebrand author Meena Kandasamy as well as my thoughts on Existentialism and spirituality. You will also visit some of the spiritual journey that I have had undertaken last year… Hope you will enjoy them as much as I did.

What Spirituality means?
Let me begin by sharing some lines from “Letters from Earth” - a book written by Mark Twain in 1909 about the Creator, who created the universe and then the earth and put the man along with all the animals on it.

From Hindu lit festivals, to constant ongoing word wars on social media, I have been watching Author Meena Kandasamy's journey to becoming a fiction writer of repute, for some time now. Her book ‘The Gypsy Goddess’, seemed to me, giving voice to her restrained rage against passivity of society at large. In this powerfully crafted novel, she gave vent to her angst in most interesting and witty way, taking us on a journey, exploring one of the most heinous massacres in Nagapattinam at Kilvenmani, where in 1968, 44 dalits were burnt alive by the landlords.

This is my third visit to Jageshwar Dham, along with my Amitabh and Shweta to celebrate their anniversary, had a special purpose i.e. in search of the answers to some questions that I have had developed in recent times as well as thanks giving for the many blessings Lord Jageshwar has given me over the years. Jageshwar is believed to be the site of first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Nageshvara Jyotirlinga. The temple city comprises a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th to 13th century AD. And I firmly believe that the spiritual energy of the place can affect one's inner consciousness deeply to unlock energy centres 'Kundalini' to give you a different perspective on life and living...

What's the purpose of life and why do we live in an Universe devoid of meaning...

At some point of life, most of us, face the inevitable question ‘What’s The purpose of life?’ and then we try to answer either with our own day to day efforts of living or just leave it to be answered by the society / culture / religion to which we belong. Yes, I have faced this question too and slowly I have come to realize that it’s really not a question about Living but about Dying. It’s really hard for consciousness to hold on to the idea that each one of the steps that we take in living is one more step closer to our dying. But then I think, it’s one thing that we rarely forget…

Over the year I have shared some Thought This Week (TTW) and here are some of the best one from this year....

Hope you have liked this edition of my blog. Let me know your views and I will be grateful if you can leave your comments …

TTW: Selected Thoughts on Love, Life and Divinity... by V.E.D

Over the year I have shared some Thought This Week (TTW) and here are some of the best one from this year ....
Hope you will enjoy them.

WE CAN NOT BE ANYTHING ELSE...

Each one of us has a destiny to fulfill and we are stuck with it. We can’t be anything else. We are born with a map imprinted within our DNA, to achieve the greatness, fitting perfectly within the universal fiber of cosmic design. Hence our job, in this life, is not to become what we think as ideal, but to be, who we already are. But the problem is that we don’t look hard or deep enough within. We just keep floating in superficial desires and needs created by the chaos of our mind and day to day living.

Remember, the easiest way to find that purpose of our life, is to look for what makes us blissful and at peace. Something that we are deeply passionate about and cannot live without achieving or being.
__

DIVINITY OF OUR NATURE
“We can make our life ‘divine’ through each step that we take towards growing up – blissfully aligned with nature.

Remember, it’s quite possible to bring out the 'divinity of our souls', in living a beautiful life; with unconditional love and wholly accepting each step that we take in awareness, to where ever it takes us.”
__

BE THE CHILD WITHIN YOU AND WALK…
“There is no past and future… it’s only the present which is ‘Now’. So don’t look back or worry about future as you don’t “Own” this life to those times, but your own yourself this ‘Now’, to be what you can be.

__

LIFE IS IN THIS 'NOW'
"We always wonder, what’s lacking in us as we realize that we are not living life to its fullest potential. But there’s nothing lacking in us, it’s just that we get so bogged down by living in Past and future. The life is not in those cherished memories of past or in the insecurities of the future, but it’s in this “NOW”.

So to a live a beautiful life, live this moment passionately, without a thought about past or future, because the reality of life is right ‘now’ and here. Give it a best shot and you will succeed"
__

BONDS OF LOVE
"Bonds of love are without the knots of hope and desire. And if you need that kind of love, which ties one to another, then you don’t. Belongingness is not a shackle but freedom from it. It’s one’s own loving one needs, to realize oneself wholly into ‘being’ what one is.

So go ahead, Just love!!!"
__

BEAUTY, LOVE AND LUST
“Beauty of any kind is self sufficient, does not needs someone’s praise or acceptance. Just as love has its beauty of itself, does not need confirmations from the family, friends or any one you love.

Remember, if beauty has expectations, then it’s going to dry out and fade in very short time, just like lust.”

TTW: Thought & Haiku of the Week and Haiku Tea Session XII

THOUGHT THIS WEEK:
BE THE BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING THAT YOU ARE…

"Absolute love is perhaps the most difficult thing to find in life for many of us, but it comes naturally to a mother. Because, a mother allows her caring to seep deep into her soul, manifesting pure love without any expectations. Whereas most of us build walls around us, with our needs, desire and lust; and we almost always wish to own and transform our loved ones."

"To really love, we should allow love to happen. Remember affection and care almost always transforms into love in depths of our heart and soul." V.E.D

HAIKU TEA SESSION XII
A global creative co-operation of poets writing linked verses at a very popular Haiku group at Google Plus... The poets write one after the other, taking the last line of the previous poet as the link to thread their own creative output. The result is one of the most beautiful collections of verses... as below. I am sure that you will enjoy it as much as we all did.... The name next to it is the poet who has written those lines... Soul prisoners search
A meaning of 'being'; In
Voids of love; Alone                                -

Tears withheld from empty skies
under sullen summer breaths...              -

a warbling chick
nothing but sticks, flesh, chirps, nest
the whole of one

bathing in the distant flow
the ripples… they disappear...               -

wandering within
foraging in still silence
gathering moments                               -

an old, empty room pregnant
with memories                                     -

that the bars cannot contain
love's fluidity...flows free                     -

laughter of a child
a dirty, torn summer dress ...
captured memory                                -

Safe in a bottle
Floating between images
Linked by counted breathes               -

rising and falling like tides
forever chasing the moon                   -

watching the night bend
and tumble amidst the stars
the cold black ocean                          -

waves of memories lapping
ships in the night pass you by            -

drowning tears awaken
the senses from twilight
island muses to ponder                       -

once again the meaning of
Being, and Loving Freely                    -

What is being free...
By my own definition(s)...
I'm a prisoner...                                   -

To society's bleak cage
How to find self amongst crowds        -

caged between the bars
bruised wings of forlorn dotage
yearns to fly again                             -

butterfly in sunshine- hating
walls every second, evading             -

how light is the heart
that finds love without searching
soul mates hand in hand                    -

we chart the ultimate course
sojourners in time and space            -

until we escape
limits and predefined paths
to feel being one                               -
