STILL LIFE : The Auroville - A journey towards peace and harmony....

Let me take you to along on a journey of tranquillity and peaceful living. The first of week of this month, I have had spent a week at one of the very beautiful town near Chennai Pondicherry. There at one of the most peaceful ashram ‘Auroville’ was my anchor point for a search within this summer. Below are my impressions from the place and I am sure you will also be able to relate to the beauty, peace and harmony that permeates from the images below as it does with me. Wish you live in peace and find happiness in life... and the images below bring you closer to your inner self and love ....

But before I take you forward in the journey, let me give you a brief back ground and history of Auroville... as below.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY
Curtsey: Wikipedia

Auroville (City of Dawn) is an "experimental" township near Pondicherry in South India. It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (since her definitive settling in India called "The Mother") and designed by architect Roger Anger. Auroville is meant to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.

History
Auroville was founded as a project of Sri Aurobindo Society on Wednesday 28 February 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, "The Mother". She was an equal spiritual collaborator of Sri Aurobindo, who believed that "man is a transitional being". The Mother expected that this experimental "universal township" would contribute significantly in the "progress of humanity towards its splendid future by bringing together people of goodwill and aspiration for a better world."
In the inauguration ceremony attended by delegates of 124 nations on 28 February 1968, The Mother gave Auroville its 4-point Charter setting forth her vision of Integral living:
1)    Auroville belongs to nobody in particular. Auroville belongs to humanity as a whole. But to live in Auroville, one must be the willing servitor of the Divine Consciousness.
2)    Auroville will be the place of an unending education, of constant progress, and a youth that never ages.
3)    Auroville wants to be the bridge between the past and the future. Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from within, Auroville will boldly spring towards future realisations.
4)    Auroville will be a site of material and spiritual researches for a living embodiment of an actual Human Unity.

Now let’s continue the journey through Still Life in and around Auroville... may you all live in peace.

On the way to Auroville...

As the road turns, so does the river on its own way...
It will be a pleasure to live in that house on the bend...

The path to Matri Mandir is a very meditative walk...

The old Banyan tree... most of the devotees life revolve around it

The center of the Auroville - Matri Mandir

The inhabitants spend lot of time around this .... in reflection
Or just for a break

Auroville's favorite mode of transport.... from one part to another

Shopping around the town...

The way to Auroville has its share of traffic... The new ...

And the old....

Dotted with road side temples...
Here is Lord Shiva's Ardhnarishwar form - part male and part female

Sunrise at the bay of Bengal... Katamaran waits

Sunset on another day of peace....

Just walking around in meditative silence ... is enough for internal peace...

WHISPERS: Buddha and life

Zade Buddha in China

__
The silent Buddha
Is not so silent
Listen from heart
__
I went to that lonely temple
Again, Buddha smiled
I was looking for pain
__
Buddha meditates in the song
The girl sings as she cleans the floor
Cleansing his soul
__
A rock solid thought
Plunged deeper in the pond
Calmness ripples across Buddha's smile
__
This 100 year old Banyan tree is in the Center of Auroville, Puducherry
Looking at young Bhikshu sitting below
Bodhi tree wonders
Who Buddha is?
__
In the shadow of Bodhi Tree
Young Buddha smiles
What life is?
__
Bodhi tree
Sad and alone
Needs another Buddha to enlighten
__
Tree knows
So do the falling leaves
Times does not know, it has come
__
Life sometimes
Is lived
Sometimes wasted on living
__
Anchored in Karma
Chained to past
Living is: trying to break free
__
This is a mural on the walls of Buddhist temple in Sarnath Varanasi
Here Buddha gave his first sermon
Soul is beautiful; lotus in the pond
Scentless, detached;
Yet flowering, in soft colours of living
__
We have lived and died
On the banks of eternal river
Of various lives
__
Between the two mirrors
Of life and living
I reflect, eternally
__
Anchored in ocean of life
A red little boat
Waits
__
