26th Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind - Celebrating Two Hundred Thousand hits...

Welcome to 26th Edition of “Shadow Dancing With Mind” and celebrating 200K Plus hits at my blog...
Its been a pleasurable journey of blogging, from the days of 2004, when I used to write only for myself to this day, when friends and bloggers visiting my blog, give me immense satisfaction. This is a journey of my thoughts, poetry, spiritual and creative pursuits, which not only made me more aware about me and the universal nature but also connected me to 1000+ Google Plussers and more the 350 followers... All amazing personalities and from each one of them I learned a lot. Thank you all for making this journey a hugely successful one and greatly satisfying.

In this edition, you will find some of the amazing books by Rilke and Tolstoy; A unique design installation, A very interesting contest on writing poetry (Haiku) to WIN ALL EXPENSE PAID WEEK LONG RETREAT in India as well as some of my Haiku and Poetry, as listed below...

THE READER – The books that I have read...

An amazing "Confession" by Leo Tolstoy
“Faith is the strength of life. If a man lives he believes in something.”
Reading a beautiful book “Confession” first published in Russia (1882), which was removed by Orthodox Church censorship and later published in Geneva (1884). In his “Confession”, Leo Tolstoy confronted his own reflections about the will to live, when in the end, it’s all about nothing.  Every moment is a step closer to dying, then why this whole life’s attempt to gain fame, family, friends and power.

Letters To A Young Poet - Amazing Voice Of Solitude, RILKE
“When a truly great and unique spirit speaks, the lesser ones must be silent”
The “Letters To A Young Poet” is a deceptively simple book. The letters were originally written to Franz Kappus, a 19-year-old officer cadet at the Vienna Military Academy, of which Rainer Maria Rilke was an alumnus. Discouraged by the prospect of life in the Austro-Hungarian Army, Kappus began to send his poetry to the 27-year-old Rilke, seeking both literary criticism and career advice. Their correspondence lasted from 1902 to 1908. In 1929, three years after Rilke's death, Kappus assembled and published the ten letters.

DESIGN STREET – A collection on design

First Chennai Urban Art Installation – commemorating the Child in You
During my travels, whenever I saw the creative of use of public space, like 'The Morning Line' below in Vienna, I used to wonder, why such activity does not happen in our own city. Yes there are installations… permanent political and religious Statues or in some small corner an Art Installation like the one at the corner of Harrington road, which sadly no one notices anymore.

ITC Grand Chola Hotel – A Sustainable Design and Hospitality with Smile
Last Saturday, I was invited by the Indiblogger team to preview The ITC Grand Chola Hotel. This is one of the latest Grand additions to the hospitality sector of fast developing Chennai, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu few months ago. Being in the profession of Interior Designs and Projects, It was a pleasure to spend a day in this beautifully crafted hotel, with exquisite artefacts and accessories highlighting the vast expanse of its interiors.

UP, CLOSE & PERSONAL – Some personal insights and experiences

Felix Dennis – A live tapestry of Pills, Publishing & Poetry
A very interesting and, in my opinion, quite truthful verse about poets by Felix Dennis which caught my attention, few days back. I started to do a little research about the poet and it turned out to be quite an epic story in itself. As I got to know more about the Poet Felix Dennis, who is in fact a publishing Giant with flagship brand like THE WEEK, got me thinking more and more about how writing poetry affects people from different fields and class... but before that, here is the verse...

An Apology To The Delhi Gang Rape Victim
Today, a sad day indeed for the common people, who are feeling helpless and were looking forward to a bigger fight along with the brave heart girl, who fought and fought... Shame on all of us, if we let her fighting spirit die. Let’s all fight to bring back the dignity that India has within, which it lost in a senseless act of lust and drunken criminality of psychopaths...

STILL LIFE – A journey through images

A South Indian Marriage in North Indian Style
It was one of the most beautiful five days of ceremony and fun. I enjoyed it thoroughly as guests from across the world gathered and graced the occasion. So here is a small journey of still life for your pleasure....

Falling In Love with 'Namma' Chennai.... A North Indian affair
Living in a place, lovingly called 'Namma Chennai'...
It was a different world from Delhi, when I came to Chennai in 1994 - different culture, outlook and life style. But over the year Chennai’s beautiful sensibility and style seeped into me and now it’s ‘Namma Chennai”. Here is ‘what makes me, love Chennai’ through the lens of my camera...

WHISPERS: Memories and some Haiku...

My latest set of Haiku and some of the memories made and lost… and living in dying… titled ‘Memories’. Hope you will enjoy these verses…

Moon walks the lonely Path
Darkness of night dotted with stars
Hides all tears
__
Under the desert sky
Even fallen stars shine over
Shifting dunes of dying time
__
You sit beside me
Counting countless stars
On my finger tip
__

MEMORIES
______
Searching for lost
Scent of life
I look every where
Is there a meaning
Of this emptiness
Or is there a cosmic design
About to fall?
Is living, all about dying?

Why Sun sets
Why the sea waves fall
Why stars shine
Only in dark
Why the scent of your smile
Floats away, every time
I try to hold,
In my cupped palms

I gather the grains of sand
Left by your foot prints
In my broken heart
I smell the sunsets of your shadow
About to fall
In the spray of ocean scent
In the whispers of sea breeze
All over my broken heart

Remember that ledge of sand;
Where you sat down to count
Countless stars
– Fencing the endless horizon,
Of the dark night?
All still there, waiting
In endless living and dying
Between memories made or lost

There was no space between us
Now the ocean has filled, even that gap
As I sit across in my own desert spaces
That Orion’s belt still shines bright
You know, every lonely night
And I end my dreams with that lovely star
And shatter my living
In a new sunrise, another star

How To Save A Drop of Love

May 16, 2012

WHISPERS: How To Save A Drop Of Love ... and Haiku

Sharing some of my Haiku and thoughts & feelings of right now… Hope you like it.

River flows, Sun melts over the rock
She brings into my arms
– Earth and distant star
___
Dreams, dream dreams
Dying on and on...
– Into living
____
Cut into pieces – thrown apart
By time and space
There are many things wrong with me, right now
___

How to save a drop of love from drying up....
___________
As time takes its toll
As life takes its topsy-turvy turns
Like a river
Spiraling togetherness away from our lives
- Away from the static banks of past
The present flows into the unknown future
Into the Ocean of all - the living and the dead
Drop by drop, as water under the bridge
We all drift apart

Given enough space
Belongingness too, fades away
– Into the sea of memories
The living dead
 Then how to save...
A drop of love from drying up
Drop it into the ocean of togetherness
That was and that is and that will be

Dante's Love Story and The Red Sand...

Mar 13, 2012

23rd Edition

Welcome to 23rd Edition of “Shadow Dancing With Mind”
This edition is in celebration of friends, who have helped me achieve 100K hits, 1000’s of comments with 215 posts and 356 followers.

TALKING POINT : The things that have made me think

'LOVE – The most powerful brain system' says Dr. Helen Fisher. In this TEDTalk by Dr. Helen Fisher, I find the anatomy of Love discussed thread bare with an interesting result that we are built in such a way that we can love many people at any point of time. It’s a great talk and I would recommend you to watch the video, where in her own beautiful style with Stories, poetry, humour and lot of intelligence and hard research thrown in, she proves and I quote,
“I don't think, honestly, we're an animal that was built to be happy; we are an animal that was built to reproduce”

UP, CLOSE & PERSONAL : People who have touched a chord in my heart

I rediscovered her while watching the movie "When Nietzsche Wept" few days back recommended by one of my friend. I had read about her while doing a little research on Nietzsche and found her to be a very interesting character in real life too. Her relationship with distinguished western luminaries, like NietzscheWagnerFreud, and Rilke, got me thinking about what actually made her out to be, what kind of person she was...

WANDERLUST : Following passions of heart, mind and soul

Today is the most Holy day of Lord Shiva, Maha Shiva Ratri, which according Hindu Scripture's is supposed to be the most favorite day of Lord Shiva. Its also believed that today, Lord Shiva married His consort Parvati. On this lovely and auspicious day, walk with me to some auspicious place across India, associated with Lord Shiva  that has touched me deeply and blessed me with peace and love...

New Year usually brings me to the most spiritual place – Rishikesh on the foothills of Himalayas. I am sharing my journey to one of the most powerful temples of Shiva around Rishikesh - Neelkanth Mahadev Temple. The 4 hour trek passes through picturesque dense forest alongside serene rivers Pankaja and Madhumati. But before I take you on to a journey through my images captured on the way, I would like to share…

BOOK REVIEW : Reading and then sharing books

This lovely book is compilation of ‘inspiring 101 stories about meeting challenges and growing up’ in life, which took me back to the dreams I have had, the aspiration that I aspired for and the childhood I grew up in. This is not a book only for the teens but for many of the older generation, who will benefit by reading these inspiring stories…

WHISPERS : My words, Poetry and Haiku

People in our life come and go but sometimes one chooses to remain with someone, forever, even though the farewells have happened. The reason for this deep rooted attachment, may not be in the soil of this life, but probably in all the other lives you have lived… so here I am trying to explore the “Lost Soul” among the debris of lives, lived along with some of my Haiku about love and its expression in verse (To know more about Haiku, Click here…)

St. Valentine’s Day for me means as the day of remembering those who have been with you on your journey for some time or forever. Who precipitated the essence of your living, into the seed within, that burst forth in flowering, as time passes by. Making the path of living more vibrant and beautiful for the travellers in your wake... so here I am again with some of my Haiku about the path and then a longer verse about the journey…

Haiku about a beautiful moonrise and the longer verse “Where Ever I Will Fall...”

Sharing some Haiku on LOVE and a longer verse “Withered Dreams...”

Well this month beginning, my blog reached a great milestone of 100,000 hits. To celebrate this, I am sharing the top five posts (From 200+ posts) that have been read most… though there are many posts, that I personally like and are good features but since some of them are posted a little later, hence I guess those didn’t make it to the top five… though I am happy to see that Rishikesh made it to the tops too... :-)
