WHISPERS: I carry the moon.... Some Haiku

TODAY IS THE DAY OF REMEMBRANCE AND ...

I carry the moon
Balanced on end of life's path; In
Day to day living

The beauty in
Itself; Sufficient and flowers
Does not fall for praise

Flowers flower, unfurl
Beauty within, nothing
Beyond true existence

26th Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind - Celebrating Two Hundred Thousand hits...

Welcome to 26th Edition of “Shadow Dancing With Mind” and celebrating 200K Plus hits at my blog...
Its been a pleasurable journey of blogging, from the days of 2004, when I used to write only for myself to this day, when friends and bloggers visiting my blog, give me immense satisfaction. This is a journey of my thoughts, poetry, spiritual and creative pursuits, which not only made me more aware about me and the universal nature but also connected me to 1000+ Google Plussers and more the 350 followers... All amazing personalities and from each one of them I learned a lot. Thank you all for making this journey a hugely successful one and greatly satisfying.

In this edition, you will find some of the amazing books by Rilke and Tolstoy; A unique design installation, A very interesting contest on writing poetry (Haiku) to WIN ALL EXPENSE PAID WEEK LONG RETREAT in India as well as some of my Haiku and Poetry, as listed below...

THE READER – The books that I have read...

An amazing "Confession" by Leo Tolstoy
“Faith is the strength of life. If a man lives he believes in something.”
Reading a beautiful book “Confession” first published in Russia (1882), which was removed by Orthodox Church censorship and later published in Geneva (1884). In his “Confession”, Leo Tolstoy confronted his own reflections about the will to live, when in the end, it’s all about nothing.  Every moment is a step closer to dying, then why this whole life’s attempt to gain fame, family, friends and power.

Letters To A Young Poet - Amazing Voice Of Solitude, RILKE
“When a truly great and unique spirit speaks, the lesser ones must be silent”
The “Letters To A Young Poet” is a deceptively simple book. The letters were originally written to Franz Kappus, a 19-year-old officer cadet at the Vienna Military Academy, of which Rainer Maria Rilke was an alumnus. Discouraged by the prospect of life in the Austro-Hungarian Army, Kappus began to send his poetry to the 27-year-old Rilke, seeking both literary criticism and career advice. Their correspondence lasted from 1902 to 1908. In 1929, three years after Rilke's death, Kappus assembled and published the ten letters.

DESIGN STREET – A collection on design

First Chennai Urban Art Installation – commemorating the Child in You
During my travels, whenever I saw the creative of use of public space, like 'The Morning Line' below in Vienna, I used to wonder, why such activity does not happen in our own city. Yes there are installations… permanent political and religious Statues or in some small corner an Art Installation like the one at the corner of Harrington road, which sadly no one notices anymore.

ITC Grand Chola Hotel – A Sustainable Design and Hospitality with Smile
Last Saturday, I was invited by the Indiblogger team to preview The ITC Grand Chola Hotel. This is one of the latest Grand additions to the hospitality sector of fast developing Chennai, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu few months ago. Being in the profession of Interior Designs and Projects, It was a pleasure to spend a day in this beautifully crafted hotel, with exquisite artefacts and accessories highlighting the vast expanse of its interiors.

UP, CLOSE & PERSONAL – Some personal insights and experiences

Felix Dennis – A live tapestry of Pills, Publishing & Poetry
A very interesting and, in my opinion, quite truthful verse about poets by Felix Dennis which caught my attention, few days back. I started to do a little research about the poet and it turned out to be quite an epic story in itself. As I got to know more about the Poet Felix Dennis, who is in fact a publishing Giant with flagship brand like THE WEEK, got me thinking more and more about how writing poetry affects people from different fields and class... but before that, here is the verse...

Winter Spiritual Retreat by an unique Community Paras Dharma Ashram
The bi-annual Winter and Summer Spiritual Retreats is organized, for a limited group of only 25 ‘preselected’ participants, by a unique community and Non-Profit Organization and Trust “Paras Dharma Ashram” which is based out of Kushinagar.

WHISPERS – The poetry Section

Write a Haiku and WIN
Write a Haiku on "Spirituality" on or before 31st March 2013, and win a chance to be one of the 7 WRITERS who will be offered an all expense paid week long stay in spiritual retreats in Rishikesh, Himalaya and in Kushinagar (A place where Buddha attained nirvana)

Love, Destiny and Death
A lot of pent-up emotions are here to explode and now all those thoughts and feelings are rushing back to surface... hope you could relate to it all.

An Apology To The Delhi Gang Rape Victim
Today, a sad day indeed for the common people, who are feeling helpless and were looking forward to a bigger fight along with the brave heart girl, who fought and fought... Shame on all of us, if we let her fighting spirit die. Let’s all fight to bring back the dignity that India has within, which it lost in a senseless act of lust and drunken criminality of psychopaths...

STILL LIFE – A journey through images

A South Indian Marriage in North Indian Style
It was one of the most beautiful five days of ceremony and fun. I enjoyed it thoroughly as guests from across the world gathered and graced the occasion. So here is a small journey of still life for your pleasure....

Falling In Love with 'Namma' Chennai.... A North Indian affair
Living in a place, lovingly called 'Namma Chennai'...
It was a different world from Delhi, when I came to Chennai in 1994 - different culture, outlook and life style. But over the year Chennai’s beautiful sensibility and style seeped into me and now it’s ‘Namma Chennai”. Here is ‘what makes me, love Chennai’ through the lens of my camera...

WHISPERS: Love, Destiny and Death

I have been very busy for these few months on my work front as well as I was not in the proper frame of mind due to some personal tragedy, in recent times, to actually sit down and write some of my thoughts and Haiku. But then the Indiblogger event happened which reminded me that there is always some time to do things that you are passionate about so got me to write these Haiku and verses. So you see a lot of pent-up emotions are here to explode and now all those thoughts and feelings are rushing back to surface... hope you could relate to it all.

Pain leaves traces of what
It was; Love, what it would be
In drifting apart
___

Destiny is thread
That weaves the tapestry of
Life, in broken hearts
___
Love is clear mirror
Of soul; unveiled beyond dust of
Memories and lust
___

DEATH
_____________
Every sound of silence
In its solitude
Reverberates through
A whole life - unlived

All that a flower
Springs forth, in flowering,
Is the beauty of the fall.

Remember, a day soon will dawn
When even the memories
Will not stay behind
To mourn

201st Post and 22nd Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind

Welcome to my 201st post and 22nd Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind”
Though I have been blogging for almost 8 years, (First blog started on 27th Oct, 2004 – My Experiments with Spirituality but for personal reading) but this blog I started on 10th May 2010 for specific reason of sharing my thoughts with friends and public at large. The desire to know what people who don’t know me personally, think about my thoughts and getting their feedback on what I love and am passionate about, was the trigger to start this one. I am extremely happy that in one and half year of this blog, I have made lots of friends and have got such a great response on my “Shadow Dancing With Mind”. I am grateful for 80,000 plus hits and more than thousands of comments.

My First STILL LIFE at my blog
A girl begging on the path of Sufi Haji Ali's Dargah in Mumbai India
So here is my own shadow boxing with thoughts, mind and living as well as this milestone of starting 3rd Century of posts, with my 22nd Edition of “Shadow Dancing With Mind”.

This Edition has the following topics.

TALKING POINT
Dr Sara Lazar with his team
Meditation Found To Increase Brain Size – Dr. Sara Lazar(Psychologist at Harvard Medical School)

What Yogi’s always knew since Vedic time (Almost 4500 Years ago), scientists are acknowledging it now. In a landmark study, Dr. Sara Lazar with team of researchers at Harvard Medical School agrees that Meditation Practice can help our brains to better cognitive and emotional processing and increase our well-being.

THE READER
The Kiss by Klimt
“The man’s happiness is: I will. The woman’s happiness is: He will” says Nietzsche in his book Thus Spoke Zarathustra
Well I have liked almost everything the profound philosopher, writer and poet Nietzsche has said in his books about various things like ‘will to power’, higher man, individualism, personality development, religion, etc. But somehow his thoughts on WOMEN have left me wondering, is that really how he thought of women?

Kahlil Gibran
Kahlil Gibran – The Poet Of Spiritual Love, was born on this day i.e. 6thJanuary in 1883. To celebrate his birthday, I am featuring in this section of my Blog – “The Reader” his most beautiful and lovely book “The Prophet”. Published in 1923, it became extremely popular in the 1960s counterculture. Kahlil Gibran is the third best selling poet (after Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu) in the world. But before I share his profound thoughts from the book “The Prophet” on many different aspects of life, love and living, let me give you a brief note about the poet.

WHISPERS: Haiku and The living is...

Sharing some Haiku about life and living along with a verse "The Living Is..."

In the soft petals of love
There is everything that one has
To suffer; should suffer
__

Every step on the path
Breaks the journey
Into two opposites
__

Pleasure and pain
Entwined in such a cosmic way
They draw each other in their wake
__

The living is...
______________

In all loving
There is freedom of wills
One to command
Other to obey
And all loving
Needs its beauty of soul
In order to sacrifice

The more I tire of being
In vice of senses
More I find in your love
As the flowers effort
To flower beauty
Becomes an objection to
Its nature

One should just flower
In living
Nothing else is beyond
The beauty of soul
And
All living is
Only a species of pain

Welcome to 21st Edition of “Shadow Dancing With Mind”. This Edition has the following topics.

TALKING POINT
Some of the things that is happening around me, as I get into the daily grind of my life every day, which has made to stop and then think....

As someone who dabbles in various forms of Haiku, Poetry and writing, (but not very good at talking about it or reading it aloud to a group of friends or audience) I was not sure how a poem is performed or what actually is a performing poet. Then I came across this TEDx Talk by Sarah Kay today. Well, it changed the way I look at poetry... It’s an amazing .. Must watch the video...

Recently, I came across a beautiful documentary by Discovery Channel hosted by Stephen Hawking asking a question that has remain unanswered since the beginning of mankind, “Does a "God" or a "Celestial Dictator" exist? In this documentary, as described in the write up, Stephen Hawking dissects the science of the universe in answering this very fundamental question.

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL
The section gives you insights of some of the people I have had a chance to meet, interact or have read about that have made a deep impression on my thoughts and feelings...

Recently I came across an interesting and typical new-age commune located in the Alps of Italy, Damanhur. Some consider the Temple structure buried 100 ft under a hill, (constructed in secret by Amateurs over a period of 13 years, without any drawings and plans) 8th Wonder of the world. In exploring further, I realise the beauty of the self made architecture  as well as the guiding philosophy of the commune i.e. The Damanhurians see the temple as a pathway to the divine inside and outside of one's self. (From the book "Damanhur Temples of Humankind"). So here is an introduction... for you to explore further and possibly move in..

Yesterday, 10th Dec, 2011 was an interesting day. It was the day of longest Moon Eclipse as well as the day when I met, for the first time, Mr. Wilbur Smith. He was the one author; I followed and read for the longest period of my life. Wilbur Smith’s books got me to appreciate nature through wild life and savannahs of Africa which later got engraved more firmly in my inner psyche through my spiritual forays into Himalaya’s and grew deeper routes through books like Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra

STILL LIFE
A place where I take you with me to a journey through my impressions and pictures that I have had taken...

One of the most revered holy sites associated with Buddha - Bodh Gaya, the place where Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment. Since I have special affinity for the thoughts of Buddha from childhood, (I was born in Kushinagar Distt in Uttar Pradesh INDIA – where Lord Buddha attained Nirvana - click here to journey with me to that place as well...) I enjoyed the powerful spiritual energy that permeates in each and everything in and around the temple.  Specially, sitting under the Boddhi Tree in meditation, was a serene and spiritually uplifting experience.

WHISPERS
A section where I post my poetry, Haiku and verse’s about love, life and living....

I believe that sometimes we cherish pain and selfishly hold on to it till it becomes intrinsic part of our soul... Love has that effect in leaving... in emptying...

I believe that we are not living in now, as our mind is not capable of perceiving it as it is always busy experiencing, accumulating memories and then translating the present according to it...

Sharing some Haiku about life and living along with a verse about what actually it is that ‘is’...

On the way to Delhi, going for one of my projects at Chandigarh (North India) from Chennai, I see the wings of the plane moving and felt like earth moved, though it actually did not. It triggered a thought process in me and I realised that all our life, we try or we move but actually we don’t...

Inspired by some the protagonists of Secessionist Movement from Vienna, namely Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. To read more of my thoughts on the movement and see some amazing paintings (including the world’s costliest painting sold)...

Sitting under that Boddhi Tree, I had some thoughts about love, life and living. The Haiku below are some of those expressions. The longer verse ‘Buddha Song’ is entwined echoes of two different feelings that played within me... at the time

WHISPER : No One Is There In Living & Haiku

Sharing some Haiku about life and living along with a verse about what actually it is that ‘is’...  titled “No One Is There In Living”
From my visit to a village in Varanasi

Silent sounds of living
Calling in lost soul
A bell tolls forever
__

Sharp edge of time
Carves out
All that is attached to us, in living
__

Life, in heights of pleasure
In slow moments of pain
Empties into living
__
A devotee praying to sun in River Ganges at Rishikesh

No One Is There In Living?
______________

Oh Yes, no one is there in living
Just hungry desires
Of dark nights...
Sense perceptions and chaos of mind
An endless search of living
Within desert spaces of times

If this is what we are
Dark and night
Then why do I even attempt
To be
Where, what, do I understand
My passion, my memories... And my life...

Can be I different than
This or many universe’s of living

I agree, I have
Disturbed the calm surface of the lake
With living,
With brush of past
With calligraphy of emptiness
By hands of fate

You know, without pain
Bliss could never be

So tell me my friend
Where to go…?
In the depths of now...
Or in dark caves of Rishikesh*
Or is it within...

Before you die in living,
Dream, search and hold it in your hand
