READER: It's raining books in Chennai Blogger's Club...

The Chennai Blogger’s Club has been breeding ground for ideas, creativity and action for many years but recently there’s a marked trend of Blogger’s becoming authors. There are many success stories of blogger’s turning into Authors from Jeff Bullas to Arnab Ray - The Great Bong and our Chennai Blogger’s club has not been left out of it’s own share of celebrities, too. So decided to showcase some of them in this post. (Please note, Dhasa is not a member of CBC though). Friends, Fellow Bloggers and Published or Aspiring Authors, here you go…

The Authors from Chennai Blogger's Club
Ganga, Dhasa, Kavipriya, Rajesh and Eshwar
Probably the first one to publish from the Chennai Blogger’s Club. The author has two award winning short films to her credit and now has published two successful books. Apart from being a technical analyst and short filmmaker, she is writer for life. A simple girl with complicated dreams for the rest of the world.

Her two books ‘Just You, Me and A Secret’ and ‘A Minute To Death’ are beautifully crafted work of fiction
that remains life like. Reading through the book, I realised that she has a great potential and will be one of the good author’s to come out of CBC Group. Loved the some of the lines from the book…

“Love is blind and hence he decided to learn braille with her. Let their lips love, Let their legs fight, Let their hands talk, let their virginity rest in peace.” - Ganga Bharani

As Rilke said, “To be an artist means not to compute or count; it means to ripen as the tree, which does not force its sap, but stands unshaken in the storms of spring with no fear that summer might not follow." and I feel that her next book, which is promised to be released in a year or so, will see her reaching across further heights.

When you have the deepest desire to be what you want to be in life, I feel one usually succeeds to ‘Be’ and Ganga Bharani is one such person. As she says in her book “A Minute To Death’ through one of the character, Riya…

“I will even die to become a writer” - Ganga Bharani.

An interesting twist in the tale and casting simple life aside, ‘HAVOC says hi’ does says so in the games of mind. Interesting read and with some interesting thoughts that got me to read the book. A love story with the underlying thrill, where the hero goes through the challenges, with the girl really knowing his love for her.

“Her fragrance was all around the air. It had the force to push through the opposite wind and reach me.” - V J Eshwar

“Lost from the reality and hope which was nowhere to be found for her. Hope came in the form of a three words from a guy whom she barely remembered.” - V J Eshwar

A Chennai based business analyst and a guest writer, who is ambivert and a pampered southpaw. She possesses a flair for carving creative ideas and runs a blog that talks about professional ethics. I met her at one of the CBC meetings and then we connected again at the Author’s group, where we critic some of our writings. Reading her fast paced book, ‘I Don’t Wear Sunscreen’ was a pleasure. I could relate to the main character ‘Laksha’ very well as she ended up in the same profession as mine - Interior design. I liked the characterization of her boss a lot, but that is not the story. It is about the pain, which comes out in the end of her childhood friend. It is about a struggle where you fall and then get back up again, to the surprise of your friend who has a huge jealousy quotient stacked up within, against her friend.

“Some times, life probes you and sometimes, life turns resilient.” - Kavipriya Moorthy in ‘I Don’t Wear A Sunscreen

Life is interesting in the book and full of hope as Lakshya’s mother says in the book …

“Life pulls down every person to the least possible negativity and thrusts them outward to shine…. Seize the moment and grow, that’s all you can do and that’s why you are born.” - Kavipriya Moorthy

Absolute truth and I loved the words…

A professional blogger, whose blog is quite popular among CBC - where he is known as Destination Infinity. He
says, he had to become an Author because people did not believe that there is something called professional blogging. And we, bloggers are grateful that you are, Rajesh and have proved many times skeptics wrong that the blogging is an unprofessional occupation. As he is the most knowledgeable person in terms of Social Media, when he decided to write a book, he went to the source and brought out a book with the best returns. This in turn opened the doors of many new authors to write and publish their own books.

Coming to his book, ‘The Archers Revenge’ which is a fast paced political thriller, where the friends you find on your way, turn out to be your adversary’s turned back into being a friend you thought them to be, to begin with. A tale of revenge, intrigue and traps, this one finds you following the strategic actions by a son to avenge his father, bringing the down fall of a political master, stooped low in corruption and crime.

“You should first weaken them (Enemy - The Minister), make them vulnerable, and then strike.” - Rajesh Kollu

In the book, I find an interesting way of numbering the chapters in a kind of ‘Count Down’ style that got my attention and the plot creation and in the end tying up all the lose ends made me feel satisfied.

“… not as comfortable as a hotel room, but it’s more comfortable than a prison” - Divya to Aryan in ‘The Archer’s Revenge” by Rajesh Kollu.

Another professional, who has come up with an interesting collection of short story ‘Among The Stars’ with lot of beautiful interwoven thoughts. And that exactly is the essence of what I liked in the book. I think Dhasa has a lot to say and looks like that he has to really get into writing a novel. As the themes that he pursues need the whole canvass to paint.

Looking forward to reading him again.

A blogger, turned standup artist turned an author is an interesting Take 3 to come up with a book titled ‘Make it 2’ and probably she will join in to become one of the famous bloggers/authors line up in the Indian Blogging scene. Since the book is not yet
launched so I only get to see the blurb on the book yesterday when we met for our Blogger’s club meeting at Menchies on Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Chennai. Not the usual love story, I think, but the special take on the love with lots of wit and sarcasm thrown in… Looking forward to reading her book.

UP, CLOSE AND PERSONAL: Experience a slice of life... At Pizza Corner

HOW TO MAKE A PIZZA...
The  final out put...
Thanks to a good friend from Chennai Blogger's Club, Bragadeesh, I was invited to Pizza Corner at Virugambakkam outlet, to actually make a pizza and eat it too. along with many other delicious dishes and loads of drinks... and I did ended up making Panjabi Curry Masala with lots of Jalepeno's, Mushroom and Olives, which I always thought the chef's always held back their hands while sprinkling them on the Pizza Bread. Thanks are also due to Deepa Pillai from Bangalore, who organised an event around giving a Pizza making experience to most of the Chennai bloggers... So here is a learning and hope the guys at Pizza Corner learn a thing or two.

But first of all.. What is a pizza?
The modern pizza was invented in Naples, Italy, and the dish has since become popular in many parts of the world.  Many varieties of pizza exist worldwide, along with several dish variants based upon pizza. In 2009, upon Italy's request, Neapolitan pizza was safeguarded in the European Union as a Traditional Specialty Guaranteed dish. The word pizza originates from the Latin verb pìnsere ("to press") and from the Greek pitta (derived from ancient Greek pēktos, πηκτός, meaning "solid" or "clotted"). A popular urban legend holds that the archetypal pizza,
My Punjabi Masala Pizza,
the recipe is confidential

Pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889, when the Royal Palace of Capodimonte commissioned the Neapolitan pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito to create a pizza in honor of the visiting Queen Margherita. Pizza migrated to America with the Italians. After World War II many returning soldiers who were stationed in Italy created a high demand for the pizza they encountered and tasted in Italy.

In India…
Another Try out..
Pizza is an emerging fast food in Indian urban areas. American pizza chains Domino's Pizza and Pizza Hut opened their first outlets in India in 1996. Domestic pizza brands include Smokin' Joes and Pizza Corner. Indian pizzas are generally spicier and more veggie-oriented than those in other countries. For instance, oregano spice packs are included with a typical pizza order in India instead of Parmesan cheese.

The Norwegians eat most pizza in the world according to a survey by ACNielsen 2004, 5,4 kg/year per capita. 50 million frozen pizzas were sold that year, with consumption being 22,000 tons of frozen pizza, 15,000 tons of home-baked and 13,000 tons of restaurant-made pizzas.

OK, we have heard about the negatives about Pizza, here is something positive…
My Punjabi Masala Pizza
Ready to eat...

European nutrition research on the eating habits of people with cancer of the mouth, oesophagus, throat or colon showed those who ate pizza at least once a week had less chance of developing cancer. Dr Silvano Gallus, of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmaceutical Research in Milan, attributed it to lycopene, an antioxidant chemical in tomatoes, which is thought to offer some protection against cancer…

Enough History and back ground, now let’s go and make one Pizza…
Deepa Pillai - Our Host of the day
Well, first of all, let me say that it was such a nice idea from Pizza Corner to invite common people like us to experience their "Slice of Life" and it made our day.

To begin with, I was not able to find the place as my mind’s GPS has latched on to someone’s suggestion from The Chennai Blogger’s Club that it’s just behind Koyambedu Veg Market and I went around in circles till the time I called Deepa, our host from Bangalore, who expertly got me at the outlet within 15 minutes. As I reached there, the Blogger’s gang was already in full flow of their creative output… I was asked to wear the hair cap, before I entered the Cooking area, which was always out of bounds for me as a customer… The Pizza corner team was all there, explaining, guiding and demonstrating on the way to making a lovely pizza. So here are some of the images, how it all went.. hope you will enjoy the experience too…

The Process...

The Gang...

Well the poster's don't lie... at Pizza Corner.

And we all had great fun, making our own pizza...

STILL LIFE: Chennai Light House

From the very beginning, Light house's have fascinated me and when there was a talk of visiting Chennai Light house as it has been recently opened for public at our Chennai Bloggers Club, I was ready to join with my handy camera. It was looking to be one of the outings that seemed to be washed as by the time I reached there, it was cloudy and drizzling but ended up on a very informative and interactive note. As I reached the Light House at Marina beach, the serpentine que and the imminent threat of hurricane subdued my enthusiasm to view the city from an interesting vantage point. No one was there from the group and as I went back to my car, I spotted the friends from CBC and decided to wait for others to join us, as we sipped hot cup of Kaapi...

So here is some images from the trip, hope you will enjoy with me...

A BRIEF NOTE ON THE CHENNAI LIGHT HOUSE...

The present light house at Marina beach is the 4th light house of Chennai and one of the tallest light houses in India, which can be seen from 28 nautical miles. It was built by the East Coast Constructions and Industries in 1976 replacing the old lighthouse in the northern direction. The lighthouse was opened in January 1977. It also houses the meteorological department and was restricted to visitors. On 16 November 2013, it was reopened to visitors. It is one of the few lighthouses in the world and the only one in India with an elevator. It is also the only lighthouse in India within the city limits.
(Text Curtsy Wikipedia, click here to read more...)
The light houses of Colloseum and Alaxandria was prominently
displayed in Museum, at the Ground Floor.
The Lighthouse of Alexandria was the Tallest manmade structure
in the world for centuries.

Finally, we decided to join in the long que in drizzling rain, hoping
to get the entry, before it closes at 5PM.

While there were others who focused on enjoying the sea...

Though, Chennai Light house is the only one in India with a lift, every one
decide to climb it

And the iconic view of Marina Beach...

After the visit to the Light House, a session of photography and
visit to the interesting museum, time for a group pic

And some of us headed towards the sea...

And enjoyed the beautiful weather ....

30th Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind - A Great Year for Blogging

WELCOME TO THE 30TH EDITION OF SHADOW DANCING WITH MIND

This is probably going to be the last Edition of Shadow Dancing with Mind of the year
2013. Its been a wonderful blogging journey… won the award for TOP INDIAN BLOGGER hit another milestone of 300K hits at my blog… got an offer to write a book about blogging to be distributed across India through Landmark Book stores… feels good but personally I have learned a lot… blogging made me a better person, I guess as it lead me to introspect every now and then about things that I was doing at the time and working towards the things still stuck in future. But yes its been a great journey Friends and thank you all for being with me sharing my joy, reading my thoughts and Haiku … hope my blogposts have helped you some how as it always does for me…

SO HERE IS ANOTHER EDITION FOR YOU TO READ AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE IT… CHEERS!!!

After many years, I started reading Tao Te Ching (the translation by R B Blakney) again and
realize again that the real great books always gives deeper insight, every time you read it. The book “Tao Te Ching” by Lao Tzu is the most translated book in the world after Bible and reading these books, actually can transport one to the ancient times and align with the thought processes that started thousands of years back and still survive the test of living mankind’s journey across time. To understand the early history of human lives and its meaning, the old books are far better than the archeological remains. Just like the Veda’s for Hindus, perhaps to know more about those ancient civilization, books like “Tao Te Ching” gives a better perspective and insight.

Why 85% of the 3rd generation of Successful Family Businesses, are not able to hold on to their lead in wealth creation and in some cases completely fade out? Why the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi is not a permanent occupant of most of the Family Business establishments?

STILL LIFE:
Recently one of my friends asked me, which temple I visit to meditate and practice sadhana and I said, "You don't need a temple, just sit down any where on the banks of Holy River Ganges, you will find peace". And I believe it so... as many of the Rishi, Saints and Sadhu's have been doing Tapasya in and around this place for thousands of years and the Ganges has been the source of their energy...

It was a real pleasure to meet interesting people in my meeting with Chennai Bloggers Club members and tried to capture some of those moments... Here it is ... I hope you will enjoy it...

This section is about sharing thoughts and some of the Haiku that have had me thinking… hope you will like it…
