Anchored in Karma,
Chained to the past
Life tries to break free
From darkness that is lost
Among memories that were forgotten
Among things that were not done
Among friends that were not made
Among roads that were not ...taken
Among choices that were made
And choices that were not.

ReplyDelete..the wheel follows the hoof
Your poem is not unlike mine yet is could also be considered the opposite...mine defines life as moments of chance...yours tells me that fate is inflexible.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment on my poem...I am anxious to enjoy more of your work:-)
Thanks Jingle,
ReplyDelete@Woih : Yes I agree with you....
@ Susan, yes you are write... mine is about life's frustration and its own accompanying dilemmas... thanks for reading and if you like in my whisper's section you will find many verses...
ॐ नमः शिवाय
Om Namah Shivaya
That picture is the first draw, your poem ties in so well with it. The were nots are what can drag you down. Beautifully stated.
ReplyDeleteShashi,
ReplyDeleteThis one is an absolute one- short and yet Intense. The image reminded me of old womenfolk in Calcutta village. They didn't blouses- maybe are changing now.. Great read.. Be around..
Happy Rally
this one feels very meditative to me; it has to be read with thought. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou left me with a lot to think about here. Always a sign of great work!
ReplyDeleteWonderfully written =D~We are all stuck within the cycle in a way ;D~
ReplyDeleteVery nice and true.
ReplyDeleteNote fate maybe, just reaction following action ... powerful piece, especially with the inclusion of the photograph. It's actually quite riviting.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Happy Rally days ...
@Frayedges: Yes, Knots can drag you down... hence I believe in removing the knots through meditation.
ReplyDelete@Oliviabiopiclog: Thanks for appreciating this one...
@Arspoetica: This poetry is kind of my shadow dancing with mind... which keeps happening all the time within me... thanks for liking it. Its ofcourse meditative for me when ever I read this again...
@Kirsten: Thanks and I am happy that it gave you food for thought... it does that to me always... whenever I read it...
@Riikainfinityy: Thanks, for enjoying this.. we are stuck in life with our own individual karmic baggages...
@Lizbethsgardeen: Thanks for your appreciation
@Musingbymoonlight: I would rather call it Karmic Baggage and unloading of the same... We, Hindu's do believe in re-incarnation and I do too..
As many of you liked the picture so much I thought of giving the back ground to the picture...
The picture I took at Puri, the world famous temple town in Orissa of Lord Jagganath (Krishna) (The town is famous for its Chariot tour once a year). This lady was sitting behind the temple in front of a shop lost deep in her own thoughts...
@Olivia, the state of Orissa is near to Kolkata too and yes you are right, the old women do discard the blouses for the comfort of it...
Thanks for liking the picture as well as the verse...
Ofcourse will be around as I am enjoying it...
ॐ नमः शिवाय
Om Namah Shivaya
This is an great piece of brilliant work.. From darkness that is lost.. Shashi, this is the best.. First time here, loved it.. totally..

ReplyDeleteॐ नमः शिवाय
Om Namah Shivaya
I appreciate poems like these that use simple language to describe complex feelings. Sometimes there is no need for long elaborate words. ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Nomination for "Perfect Poet Award" in the Rally, Harshika.
ReplyDeleteI got the message today that I have had got it... thanks once again..
ॐ नमः शिवाय
Om Namah Shivaya
Thanks Marisol. I agree with you that you dont need complex words to describe simple things in life... like love and feelings... These are actually very simple things but we, with our own ego's, assumptions and expectations, make it very complex and when things get out of hand, we use elaborate language to describe them in order to satisfy again our ego that we are fighting or saying big things... etc...
ReplyDeleteSimply said is the shortest distance from heart to heart... that is the reason I love Haiku's and write short verses....
Thanks for appreciating. I value your comments...
ॐ नमः शिवाय
Om Namah Shivaya
