Some Free Form Haiku celebrating love… on Valentine’s day
She holds me in her arms
Whispers melted me into dew drops
Sense palette in full bloom
__
The longest few minutes
Of my life - That last kiss
Defines me still
__
Soft and wet feelings
Of dew drops; on my bare feet
I am picking long lost caresses
__
I know
Why I exist; Just to
Love you

A Night Along the Sea
________________
I walk the beach tonight
Searching for essence of life
Is there a meaning
In all this emptiness
Gather the grains of sand
Left by your foot prints
In depths of my soul
The ledge of sand still waits
Where you sat down to count
Countless stars
– Fencing the endless horizon
Of a passionate night
All still there,
Waiting
Remembering and living
The scent of your smile
I spread my arms wide,
Entangled in sand
The spray of salty breeze
Caressing me, whispering me
Your name
Closed my eyes
To hold the sunset
…and your shadow
About to rain
All over my broken living
Stretched, edge to edge
On this lonely beach
You know, I was there tonight
Like every dark night
Looking for you
Missing my life

A simple, yet undeniably powerful undercurrent driving existence. Love. For all the hate out there, we must let this drive us in the world...another beautiful batch, my friend. Particularly enjoyed the third haiku - such a vivid, splendid image of memory! There are just somethings we never forget...
There was great atmosphere to this. Excellent.

Ah..the romance, desire, the sadness, the yearning, the sense of loss, the memory, the sweetness... it was all so felt in this lovely poem, Shashi...
ReplyDeleteVery beautifully written, my friend!!
This time your haiku, excellent as they were, were definitely surpassed in your longer poem. Beginning with "..your shadow about to rain..." this poem closes with some of the finest writing I've seen from you. Beautiful, exceptional work.
ReplyDeleteBoth are so very beautiful. Wonderful. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo many love poems - there can't be too many love poems. And "A Night Along the Sea" just aches with loss. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI read the haiku, and read the longer poem, but I couldn't get my mind off the haiku long enough to savor the poem!
ReplyDeleteYour haiku were so .....complete and satisfying, Shashi, masterful in the essence.
The longest few minutes

That is so perfect on so many different levels. It takes my breath away!
You have captured the very essence of haiku, Shashi, the seemingly simple on the surface and the deep and resounding messages internally.
Amazing haiku! And I will study the poem more, but the haiku I can't get out of my eyes!
Lady Nyo
