WHISPERS: The Wanderer...

Some of my Free Form Haiku
__________

Lotus has flowered
Now all it waits for
Is to fall out of existence
__

Love is like the paint brush
Bringing all happiness
Into being
__

The reality of love
Dawned
Sunrise burst out
__

The wanderer
_____

In the search of meaning
Of life
Some times, one floats all alone
Carried by flow of sensual river
Wanderer tries to hold on to
Twigs of
Memories, thoughts feelings and experiences
That comes along

Yet, flowing too becomes meaningless
In search of meaning
Without knowing, what it means
But still with the inherent push of senses
Of mind
Of living
Of river’s flow
Wanderer floats on and on…

Looking back some times
Sometimes, longing
To cling to the shores
That seems so peaceful and calm
In remaining where they are
Still in touch
Still attached with the flow
Yet not going anywhere
How easy it seems to stay
Where you are

Caught between two mirrors
Of life and living
Wanderer reflects infinitely

  1. Shashi, in your first section of haiku, the reality of love made an impression on me because of the assumption there, followed by bursting dawn and the accompanying image——to me 2 instances of such reality being nature and language. The Wanderer is very well done and reminds me of how choosing to be complacent and avoiding the current seems counter-intuitive to life's flow.

  4. I connected so much with your poem. Wandering I go through life too, asking questions and observing. I loved your haiku, in fact I really enjoy all your writing. It reflects a spirit-filled, sensitive person.

  5. Hi Shashi
I too love your first haiku, but is there not another bloom? There is depth in your beauty friend.

Oh, and the wanderer; just lovely. I read it again and see the prophet floating along. Moments of weakness; to look back or yearn for the shore, or even wonder at the flow at all. The river has purpose in its flow, even without a surface ripple though. Be still on your path Shashi. Go well.

  6. I love the free form haiku!

    Still attached with the flow
    Yet not going anywhere
How easy it seems to stay
    Where you are

I love these lines! Great one shot!

  7. Reminds me of Siddhartha's (Hesse) years on the river with the boatman after leaving the city.

    Still in touch
    Still attached with the flow
    Yet not going anywhere
How easy it seems to stay
    Where you are

How do you know it is the river moving and not you?

  8. Shashi :)

I enjoyed your Haiku very much and related to Wanderer as one but I didn't see how much till I read the last comment. Yes Siddhartha it is.. That book has always been a part of my life its where my mom thought of my name. She had me read it the first time when I was 13. Great job :)

  9. Shashi, though I enjoyed all your haiku, the first one....is absolutely classical! You nailed the haiku form with that one to me.

It is absolutely perfect in the context of haiku....which is a hard thing to do for most of us.

There is a sentiment in good haiku that brings something 'other' to the form, and here you have achieved it with this first haiku for me.

I would rate this haiku with anything of Basho's.

  10. These are all so wonderful, Sashi. The Wanderer made me think of a book I read about prayer where the author said just enter the Divine Presence as though It is water and float.
I agree, your haiku make me think of Basho. Especially the first one.

  11. Immensely love the first Haiku about the lotus... it really capture the essence of many a life... very well written, Shashi!

And the wanderer poem was like a feather in your cap! Marvelous! Sometimes, in the pursuit of purpose, we end up finding this journey as meaningless! And sometimes, it feels like a feat by itself, with a sense of accomplishment rising
to the top! I suppose the art lies in accepting it, and smiling at it...
    "Caught between two mirrors
    Of life and living
Wanderer reflects infinitely" -- i found this to be true, profound and absolutely fantastic!!!

    Beautifully written, my friend..

  12. I have always struggled with the fact that we are in many ways born to fall out of existence ... but hopefully our memory is captured eternally.

Because, the nature of the river is to reach to the ocean and it finds it own way, where as a man, is always searching and does not know itself.

    @OldOllie

  27. words full of meaning... it's so easy to lose the aim of life in this fast-paced world we are living in. we often feel lonely and search for something, not even knowing what. this reminds me a bit of the Ray Bradbury's book 'Fahrenheit 451'... Loved your poem! so close to my own feelings :)
