Some of my Haiku below from the last week, hope you enjoy them...
...and followed by long verse about life and futility of living 'enslaved by senseless desires', overlooking the reality of soul and the power of love to free oneself from all of it....
___
Seed, in giving birth
Didn't die; just changed
Into 'being' the tree. It already was
__
Don’t look back
There's nothing left of the present
Its all past
__
Cherry blossoms know
How to flower
Eyes don’t know how to speak
__
Loving hides a pain
So profound
It’s enlightening
__
SENSELESS LIVING
_______________
Reason is master minding
The living
According to a warped sense
Of preservation – for a body
That is bound to perish
Emotions, Passions, Desires
Overwhelms sensuous mind
Soul is reduced
To mere puppet
Of chaotic ‘being’
Moment by moment, past empties
Present – off living
A leaf floats around
Lifeless
In ever changing winds of dream
In constant occupation
Of being alive
Every one ultimately stops
Dead in the track
An eerie stillness echoes in living
As life’s pyre
Consumes sweat, blood and hopes
Specs of burnt ash
Settles softly on the path
Of dead memories
Only an axe of detachment
Could cut a path across deep forest
Of desires, needs and dreams
Only love could churn out
From depths of soul;
Freedom from senseless living

Fabulous bits, followed by such a moving poem, lingering emotions felt.
ReplyDeleteLoved the haiku, and a powerful message in the poem.
ReplyDeleteWhat a way you have with words. This was so beautiful to read.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me that we need to appreciate every moment and be thankful. Nice write.
ReplyDeletePS. Code 4 means everything is under control. :-)
your haiku measure deep in few words...in particular the first one...what has always been insdie of us...your verse is very nice as well but i love your haiku...
ReplyDeleteYour haiku outstanding as always at reaching the heart of things, especially the second--but your long verse quite eloquent as well. I particularly like the moodiness and succinctness of this line: "...An eerie stillness echoes in living..." Stillness itself frightens many, yet it is also a most natural state--for those born to become it. As always, a great pleasure to see your work here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and profound. Always a pleasure to read your words Shashi.
ReplyDeleteAnita.
Your sentiments in Senseless Living resonate deeply with me Shashi. I like "Only an axe of detachment could cut a path---"
ReplyDeleteAnn
Shasi, love the haikus and the ending to "Senseless living" is beautiful. So, nicely put.
ReplyDeletePamela
Shashi, I always love your haiku. That last one in particular touched me. Loving, when done wholeheartedly, is always so full of joy as well as pain.
ReplyDeleteConcentrating on the long one. Feeling the chaos, the dissolution. My fav, though, the way out, no sentiment here:
ReplyDeleteOnly an axe of detachment
Could cut a path across deep forest
Of desires, needs and dreams
The axe cuts cleanly...thanks!
Through it all, love is the answer...love your haiku
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your writing and give long pauses to contemplate your imagery and meaning.
ReplyDeleteThank you, good poet.

Wonderful verse, Shashi.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sentiments, Shashi... Sometimes, to feel something, we have to become very unfeeling... and indeed love brings purpose and meaning to our otherwise dull and mundane lives.. really beautifully said, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAnd I loved your cherry blossoms... it was so moving.. and sooo true too!!
this time my fav was the first haiku sashi - just beautiful
ReplyDeleteGreat words, I loved Senseless Living, the constant occupation of being alive...it feels like that some days. The haiku was beautiful. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts of "love as freedom from senseless living"...so perfectly spoken. Each Haiku has such special meaning... thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful writing. I look forward to reading more of your work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
Shashi, your haiku, especially the second one, spoke directly to my heart and present discontent.
ReplyDeleteYour first, succinct. This is what I remember in the 'negation of the negation'....as I remember a Hegelian term for the transformation of matter.
And your longer verse?! Amazingly straight to the point of life, passions, waste of our energies, and ultimate dust.
Very much to the point of our senseless living...and what a waste!! Our consumer society here in the states runs away, dulls the senses, destroys everything positive....unless we detach, detach, detach.
Hard hitting verse, and beautiful haiku, Shashi.
Lady Nyo
