WHISPERS: Cherry Blossoms Haiku & The Old Man At The Ghat...

Cherry blossoms and...
Falls; Sound of silence echoes
Is one hand clapping?
__
Love has lost meaning
Of being; Lone cherry blossoms
Alone; Cycle of life
__
Cherry blossoms in
Beauty; Wither, fall and
Decay; Life goes on...

An Old Man at the Ghat's Of Varanasi

The Old Man At The Bathing Ghat*
_________________
I saw the old man at the bathing Ghat*
Ages ago but he still continues
To haunt me and my thoughts
Provoking me to dig deeper
In psych about
Life
Death
Belonging that is lost.

But what does he know
I am handicapped too
By pain,
Loss and loneliness
Life to be, has become
An obscure phase lived
Slowly passing by, grain by grain
Like the sands of time in hour glass.

I have no clear vision
Even dreams are marred
By the imposter Hope
Playing kaleidoscope of light
At the end of one long dark tunnel
Why there is a light, only at the end?
Tunnels of life never end in living
But we blindly live, on and on

I too keep walking, on and on
Dripping past Karma
In drops of sweat and tears
Creating a fiery blood line
Anchoring me to the life
The old man now walks beside me
Holding my hand, talking
Knowing, feeling

I am as lost...

Up, Close & Personal: Expansion - A beautiful sculpture by Paige Bradley

The beauty of the Lotus posture, the meditative outlook of the form and the light emanating from within this sculpture, created a Haiku like poetry about Spirituality which caught my eye, when I came across it, earlier this month. I decided to seek out the artist Paige Bradley and try to find what inspired her to create this iconic sculpture known as “Expansion”…

Expansion by Paige Bradley

“From the moment we are born, the world tends to have a container already built for us to fit inside: A social security number, a gender, a race, a profession or an I.Q. I ponder if we are more defined by the container we are in, rather than what we are inside. Would we recognize ourselves if we could expand beyond our bodies? Would we still be able to exist if we were authentically 'un-contained'?”, says Paige Bradley

Though Ms Paige Bradley was off work, as she is in the family way, she was gracious enough to have her office sent me the images below that I am sharing in this post. I wish her all the positive energy to form within to create many more such wonderful creations…

A Brief Note…
Expansion in different light

____________

Paige Bradley was born in Carmel, California Paige Bradley knew she would be an artist by the age of nine. Immersed in nature and art, Bradley's fascination with the human figure began early. She believed that through the figure an artist could speak a universal language that is timeless and essential.

Paige Bradley started drawing from the nude model by the age of ten and by fifteen was studying intensely at university campuses during the summer months. Knowing that she was naturally a sculptor, at seventeen she cast her first bronze sculpture.

Annually, Paige Bradley has several solo exhibitions, and her work can be seen in selected galleries throughout the world. In 2004 she moved her studio from California to New York City. In the spring of 2007 she moved to London, where she currently works full time.

Paige's work is full of dichotomies: both the beautiful and the ugly, the liberated and the contained, the falling and the floating. She is always in control of form but not imprisoned by its literality. The subject matter becomes the most important -- not narrowly feminist, but rather humanistic betrayals of modern emotion. Paige's work is becoming a valuable keystone for the missing figure in contemporary art. Only in her early thirties, Paige Bradley's talent and artistic achievements have already gained her much notoriety.

I thank Ms. Paige Bradley for her support and the images and wish her all the best.

24th Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind

Welcome to 24th Edition of Shadow Dancing With Mind. This edition has the following topics…

Are Human beings basically made up of two basic drives i. e. the SEXUAL and the AGRESSIVE. (Freud 1920).  Well I am not able to relate to, or digest in totality... so I did some research, and came across many who don’t think so too…

The name Higgs Boson came from a British scientist Peter Higgs and Bose (Satyendra Nath Bose after whose name thesub-atomic particle boson is named). The work done by Bose and Albert Einstein, later added by Higgs, lead to this pioneering day.

This year’s Euro Vision 2012 2nd Winner reminds me of our village folk songs from UP and Bihar as well as one from Bulgaria.

Up Close & Personal: In depth reading, understanding and knowing some great people…

Etoile Bleue (Blue Star) painting smashes auction record - BBC News 20th June, 2012
I had to put the painting ‘Blue Star’ image here, since I know, after seeing it, everyone will think... I could have painted this too... But before you go and smirk with your own interesting critic, here is what Miro thought about critics.

Freud's theories have been criticized as pseudo-scientific and sexist, and they have been marginalized within psychology departments, although they remain influential within the humanities. Critics have debated whether it is possible to test Freudian theories. Some researchers claim evidence exists for some of Freud's theories.

WHISPERS: Some of my poetry and Haiku

Remembering Dante Alighieri on his birthday today by sharing a very beautiful love poetry from La Vita Nuova ("The New Life") and a little bit about his amazing one sided love story.

And finally a book review…

Hope you will enjoy this 24th Edition… look forward to your comments and views on the same.

Close Encounter with Science : God Particle - Proud To Be an Indian

IN SEARCH OF GOD PARTICLE - HIGGS BOSON
______________________________________
In a ‘quantum’ leap in physics, CERN scientists on Wednesday, 4th July, 2012, claimed to have spotted a sub-atomic particle “consistent” with the Higgs boson or the “God particle”, believed to be a crucial building block that led to the formation of the universe.

The name Higgs Boson came from a British scientist Peter Higgs and Bose (Satyendra Nath Bose after whose name thesub-atomic particle boson is named). The work done by Bose and Albert Einstein, later added by Higgs, lead to this pioneering day.

“India is like a historic father of the project,” Paolo Giubellino, CERN spokesperson had said back in October last year when PTI visited the facility.

SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION BY KOLKATA INSTITUTE

The Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) said in Kolkata on Wednesday that its scientists had made significant contributions to the development of the CMS experiments at CERN.

“This is an important moment for the development of science and I am very happy that our institute, this city and our country is part of the science revolution,” Mr. Sanyal said.

He said that the core CMS team of the SINP had five faculty members — group leader Prof. Sunanda Banerjee, Prof. Satyaki Bhattacharya, Prof. Suchandra Datta, Prof. Subir Sarkar and Prof. Manoj Saran.

Most of the team members, he said, had worked for more than a decade with the CMS experiment with notable contributions in the development of the experiment right from the early stage and were actively participating in the analysis of the incoming data.
